The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing list of state associations embracing the format.
GCA secretary Anil Patel confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz, stating that the association is currently working to identify a suitable window in the cricket calendar for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other key details are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have become important scouting grounds for IPL franchises, providing a platform for local talent to gain recognition. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have all contributed to this trend. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
