Pant and Bumrah Shine in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The ICC Test rankings have been updated, reflecting significant changes in the global cricket standings following a week of compelling performances in both Test and T20I formats. Rishabh Pant of India and Ben Duckett of England are the major headliners, achieving career-high rankings after their exceptional performances in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings following his remarkable twin centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve hundreds in both innings of a match. Pant is also the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to reach 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, while Harry Brook of England secures the second position. India’s Shubman Gill has moved up five places to 20th after his impressive century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, continues to hold the No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings. His recent five-wicket haul at Headingley reinforced his dominance in red-ball cricket. England’s Ben Stokes has climbed three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest in recent months—after contributing with both bat and ball.
The T20I rankings have also seen considerable movement after the tri-series in Glasgow, featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has risen 16 places to 14th following a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also made an impact, climbing 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to be an essential indicator of individual excellence, every run and wicket contributes to shaping the evolving hierarchy of cricket.
